Coryphaeus

Elia Sala
Life Dates: 30.04.1864-1920
Place of birth:
Occupation: a sculptor
Main works: A sculptor of the second half of 19 – beginning of 20 century, author of sculptural museum decoration

He was Italian by origin. In 1890-1900 together with the brother lived and worked in Kyiv. In early 20th century taught in Kyiv Art School for some period of time. His works in Kyiv (all in cooperation with architect V.Horodetskiy) are: gable composition and lions of Kyiv City Museum of Antiquity and Art (1897-1905), sculptures on Mykolayivskiy Church (1899-1909), chimaeras on the front of V.Horodetskiy’s private house(1902); also he was the author of dragons's figures on the State Bank building (1902-1905).
