To Honor the 75th Birth Anniversary
Painting (Uzhgorod)

The exhibit that has opened in three galleries of the first floor represents a painting retrospective of one of the most talented artists of the Transcarpathian painting school Volodymyr Mykyta.

“Exhibitions give me an opportunity to see myself from a side, to analyze both my successes and my failures. Every time such an analysis becomes a peculiar fundament for new plans. However, the most valuable thing that an exhibition can give is a new meeting with the viewer.  The impressions of the viewers are both the highest judgment and the best prize for the artist. The artist does not live and work for himself; his primary goal is to serve people, to be as useful to the people as possible. The labor of the artist is comparable to the labor of the farmer: while the farmer gives people material food, the artist feeds them spiritually. And the spiritual food is no less important, especially in our age. Therefore the artist has to be very exacting to himself and very task-oriented…  To be honest, I do not look for particular topics. When you live and work among the people and nature, you feel that the topic finds you. As a rule, this is exactly the topic which is close to your heart.”

Volodymyr Mykyta
