Kultur-Lige, one of the largest educational Jewish organizations, was created at the beginning of 1918 in Kyiv.  The aim of its activities was to develop culture in Yiddish. In the fall of 1918 its educational, publishing, library, music, theatre, literature and art sections were launched. In Kyiv, Kultur-Lige opened a People’s University, a gymnasia, a gymnasia for teachers and “Kultur-Liga” publishing house. A drawing section and a museum were attached to its Art Section.

The most significant phenomenon of Kultur-Lige activities was its Art Section. The exhibition shows more than 100 works from the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the Kyiv Museum of Russian art, a number of regional museums, book collections of Vernads’kyi National Library of Ukraine, the Research Centre of the History and Culture of Eastern-European Jews, the Museum of Jewish Art and History in Paris, and private collections from Israel and Ukraine.
