Dresden Engraving Cabinet is a part of the State Museum Collection of Dresden, which consists of eleven museums: panting, history, decorative and applied art, and natural history. The collection dates back to the 16th century. The Cabinet possesses about 515.000 works by more than 20.000 artists. Drawings, painted graphics and photography are three kinds of the art of engraving in the collection.

During World War II the works were seriously injured. After the war, large part of the collection was transported to the USSR. They only returned to the Cabinet in 1958.

The exhibition of the works of the significant masters from Dresden Engraving Cabinet takes place in the framework of the Days of the German Culture in Ukraine. This should contribute to the development of cultural exchange between Germany and Ukraine.
