The National Art Museum of Ukraine presents the exhibition of painting, sculpture and graphic works of the Honoured Artist of Ukraine and prominent representative of Kharkiv art circle Viktor Igumentsev.
Viktor Mykolayovych Igumentsev was born at 12th of September, 1939 in the village Chervonyi Yar in Lugansk region. In 1964 he finished K.A. Savytskyi Lugansk Art College (department of sculpture); in 1970 he finished Kharkiv Art and Industrial Institute, specializing in industrial graphics under the lead of the prominent representative of Kharkiv graphic school Moses Fradkin. In 1970 – 1988 Igumentsev taught industrial graphics in Kharkiv Art and Industrial Institute. Since 1996 he has been a senior lecturer and since 2002 he has been a professor of the faculty of imitative and decorative art of architectural department in Kharkiv State Technical University of Construction and Architecture. Igumentsev’s works are kept in state and private collections of Ukraine and Russia.
Igumentsev is a really universal artist. Well known to the general public as an engraver (an author of easel engravings and linocuts), he is a skilful painter with a delicate sense of color. Other manifestations of artist’s creativity are miniature wooden bas-reliefs. Despite of their size, they are perceived as monumental works, owing to their plastic power.
At the exhibition are presented over 50 engravings and drawings, sculptural miniatures, and paintings from the collection of Kharkiv collector and Maecenas B.V. Hryniov.
