Albina Yaloza. SILENCE
Curator: Pavlo Gudimov
National Art Museum of Ukraine and Pavlo Gudimov Art centre YA Gallery present Albina Yaloza's project "SILENCE". Uninhabited landscapes of "Silence" appeal to open space, infinity and the original freedom, yet this impulse is harshly and categorically eliminated. Landscape as a natural object and the landscape genre itself are questioned, human as the main object of observation is completely eliminated. Becoming more and more conditional, the landscape is physically falling apart and opening up an emptiness that mirrors the split and lonely image of a modern human in urban vacuum. The distance between nature and human becomes insurmountable and the "effects" of human subject's presence in the natural environment only emphasize the sense of rupture. Time stops in these landscapes' silence. Ephemeral landscapes tilt, flow, reflect, shine, break, blacken... but remain silent. Silent the way nature is silent while wisely observing human fuss. If landscape has a future - is a question as rhetoric, as "if human has nature". Instead of an answer - unbreakable silence that the artist and the curator invite us to enjoy before diving again and disappearing in Charybdis metropolis.
Albina Yaloza was born in 1978 in Kharkiv. Lives and works in Odessa. 1999 graduated from Kharkiv State Art School, faculty of painting, 2006 - from Kharkiv State Academy of Art and Design, faculty of graphic art. Since 2010 she is a member of the Ukrainian Artists' association.
