Recent Paintings, Book Illustrations

The present exhibit of Olena Yablons’ka consists of 50 paintings, mostly recent works. Beside paintings, it shows book graphics from 1960’s to 1970’s.

Francisco de Goya, as he often is called the “Father of the contemporary art” or the “First modern artist”, started his artistic career at the late baroque epoch. Expressing his thoughts and feelings straight out he became the pioneer of the new art tendencies that marked the beginning of XIX century.

The exhibition that occupies three galleries of the ground floor shows more than 120 Tolkachev’s works from the collection of NAMU and the artist’s family. Many of them are exhibited for the first time: this concerns the series of cardboards “Christ at Maydanek,” paintings from the cycle “The Occupants” (1942-43), and portraits of disgraced Ukrainian writers.

Fascimiles

The exhibition shows 88 fascimile copies of Ciurlionis’s artworks. Since 2000, the Memorial Centre of Culture “The House of Ciurlionis in Vilnius” with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania organizes exhibitions and concerts abroad, dedicated to Mikalous Ciurlionis - one of the brightest representatives of Lithuanian professional music and great artist. For already a century his art remains a topic for vivid discussions.
