10.11.2006 – 28.01.2007 Mykhaylo Lysenko and His Students

Project

The exhibition is dedicated to the 100th birth anniversary of the prominent master of Ukrainian sculpture, the academician and professor Mykhaylo Lysenko. His name is first of all associated with the monument to Mykola Shchors (1954), one of the most interesting monuments in Kiev, and the monument to the victims of fascism in Babyn Yar (1976).

Volodymyr Nakonechnyi was born on March 8, 1956 in Vinnytsya region. He lives and works in Dnipropetrovs’k. Nakonechnyi graduated from Kyiv State Art Institute, the department of sculpture (1985). Since 1989 he has been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.

The exhibition that is opened in two halls of the first floor shows new paintings by one of the Ukrainian artists’ elder generation representative, Davyd Miretskiy.

Viktor Hontariv was born on the 30th of October, 1942 in the village Sotnytskyi Kozachok, Kharkiv oblast’. In 1952 his family moved to Kharkiv. From 1958 to1963 he studied at Kharkiv State Art College (his teacher was I.M.Stakhanov). In 1967-72 he studied at the Vera Mukhina Leningrad Higher Artistic and Industrial Institute.
