CHILDREN
in the framework of the “Living Art” all-national project
dedicated St. Nicholas Day and winter holidays
at the National Art Museum of Ukraine

On the 20th of December at 13.30 Ukrainian National Information News Agency (UNIAN) held a press-conference dedicated to the completion of the first stage of the all-national project “Living Art” and its culmination – the exhibition entitled “Children”. Its opening took place at the National Art Museum of Ukraine on the 12th of December (Saturday) at 14:00. Honorable guests were the most active participants of the “Living Art” project – preschool children, school and university students.
The idea of the project is simple: art lives as long as it has its addressee. The first stage of the project is called “Compare.” During seven months, the museum had distributed 36 thousand cards with printed outlines of famous Ukrainian paintings among children and youth.   They were to paint them according to their own taste and then to compare them with the originals in the museum.
On the one hand, this stage of the project was to stimulate the participants’ creativity.  On the other hand, it was to raise their interest in visiting the museum. The “Children” exhibition is conceived as a museum present to the Day of St. Nicholas and winter holidays. The opening turned into a real festival with the Christmas tree, songs, dances, a performance of a music ensemble, and interactive and cognitive games.
