15.01.2021 Online lecture "Vasyl Yermilov: artist-constructor of the 1920s."
Constructivist Vasyl Yermylov (1894 - 1968) - one of the key figures of national art, an artist who formed the visual image of Kharkiv in the post-revolutionary years and most consistently embodied in Ukrainian art the period of life that grew from the era of industrialization, the era of "great ferment" the visual tradition was rejected, and "beauty was multiplied by functionality."
The most fruitful period for Vasyl Yermylov was the 1920s and 1930s. Here is what the poet Valerian Polishchuk wrote about it: “It was a great“ plywood ”period of our painting. All the streets and houses shouted slogans, paints, flowers, shields and arches by Vasyl Yermylov. It was the pathos of the revolution in paints. Nothing like this has happened so far and, unfortunately, has not been inherited. It was a unique style of the era… ”
