The system of contemporary art has developed over more than 50 years of contemporary art history - since the 1960s. In many respects it was formed under the influence of the specifics of contemporary art with its tendency to constantly reconsider its own boundaries and definitions. Therefore, it has a number of features, is constantly changing and evolving, but has its own logic, familiarity with which allows you to build certain guidelines. We will talk about what a work of contemporary art is and how and who determines the level of its artistic quality; where you can meet contemporary art, and how it interacts with the audience (from the street to the museum); how and why large periodical exhibitions such as Documents are held in Kassel or numerous biennials around the world; what curators do and what to read for a better understanding of contemporary art.
