He successfully graduated from Kyiv State Art Institute (1969–1975, his proficiency teachers were – V.H.Puzyrkov, V.V.Shatalin, V.I.Zabashta and later in the monumental painting studio he studied under T.N.Yablonska and M.M.Storozhenko).
In 1976 he performed various outstanding monumental projects for Kyiv (paintings in “Minska” metro station and “”Khreshchatyk” cafe), Chornobyl, Smolensk, Tolyatti and other USSR cities.
From 1980 he was the member of USSR Artists Union; from 1960 he participated in regional, areal, republic-wide and foreign exhibitions.
His work “The Epiphany” was put up for the Sotheby’s auction. The artist’s paintings are stored in museums and private collections of Ukraine, Russia, and also in Germany, Switzerland, USA, Israel, India, Yugoslavia and Sukarno’s collection in Indonesia.
From 1985 S.I. Khymochka has been living in Khimki city located near Moscow. He is an active member of The International Academy of World Nations Spiritual Unity.
Stepan Khymochka defined the mission of an artist in the following way: “If you look around mentally, you will see the wonderful world of the Creator, astounding in every respect, our feelings can reach to. An amazing light flows – sunny-yellow and then the “radiant-blue”, and all the Universe seems to be abounding with this light – from big galaxies to the smallest cell organisms of our Earth.
Everything is in in motion and in inter-linkages – Harmony in the Creator’s law – and Lord forbid you from destroying this integrity – it will immediately reflect on the Universe.
There is the common Law, in which everything moves and happens.
One has to love, to admire, to find the strength and courage, to follow its light and keep straining after the weal.
Our Earth shines, it has space for the ugliness and the Beauty; the last one is admired to be reconstructed (praised) in the way of the Creator’s routine. If you seek for the celestial harmony, maybe we will succeed in something…”
S.I.Khymochka had started his creative development as a monumentalist artist. But at the same time an easel painting, namely, the landscape painting, had called his attention. He treated the social realm as an artist with a special view and experience that he had accumulated, except for the time of his academic studies, with the help of long-term work and deep understanding of the olden European artists and the heritage of Ukrainian folk and figurative art
The painter used specific natural motive only as a basis for his work. By deepen and generalizing it, he creates the painting on the outworld, on the harmony dominating in it, on the eternal beauty subordinated only to the Divine Reason, on the Earth, where he was born and where he lives, on its past inherent to the present.
The artist perfectly holds all the arsenal of artistic expression tools. His skill is developed in the gentle feeling of the light nuances in painting, in the ability to create convincing images of a bright day or reflect a quiet elegiac mood of the dusk, re-create something present or atemporal.
