By the good tradition, from St. Nicolas’ Day to St. Valentine’s Day, National Art Museum of Ukraine within the program “Living Art” organizes an exhibition for children, teenagers and everybody interested. This year we continue “serial” project, which goal is to approach to understanding to the alphabet of the fine arts. In the centre of our attention is the most democratic kind of art – graphics. You will see all graphic techniques, classical works from museum collection: old prints from 17th – 18th centuries, works of such coryphaei of 20th century as Heorhiy Narbut, Vasyl Yermilov, Anatol Petrytsky, Sergiy Adamovych, Hryhoriy Havrylenko, and works by our well known contemporaries Pavlo Makov and Oleksandr Sukholit.
Graphics is everywhere: in museum halls, in a magazine, at the street, in our everyday life. First children’s book, first timid pencil’s lines on a sheet of paper or wallpaper, favorite cartoons, sketches to paintings, “Hare” by Albrecht Durer an “Dove of Peace” by Pablo Picasso, attractive poster and miniature ex-libris in a book from family library, company logotype on a pack of favorite kefir, and paper money – all this is graphics. Graphics accompanies us in life and changes with us. New kinds of graphics appear, for example, computer graphics.
Within the exhibition master classes will be conducted, such as “Print your engraving”, “Create your own book”, “Make paper with your own hands”. Also there will be lectures about graffiti, computer graphics, drawing on paper money, and the main principles of book-making (the last one – by the artists from “A-BA-BA-GA-LA-MA-GA”).
