Vyacheslav Klokov. Finding perfection

Vyacheslav Klokov (February 19, 1928 – April 16, 2007) was a
Distinguished Figure of Ukrainian Art (the title given in 1968). He was
the author of easel sculptures and monuments, monumental and decorative
park sculpture.
The exhibition shows how the demand for Klokov’s works changed over
the time: from the steep rise at the beginning of his creative path to
the semioblivion during the last years of his life. Far from being a
time- and state-server, the artist felt free to choose his motifs and
unique ways of plastic expression; therefore, many of his late projects
only appeared as plaster studies. At the exhibition, large photographs
of Klokov’s works, executed by his friend, the well-known photographer
Ihor Gilbo, show both his finished monumental works and unrealized
plans.

Oleh Min’ko was born in 1938 in the town of Makivka in Donetsk obl.
In 1965 he graduated from Lviv State Institute of Decorative and Applied
Art. His teachers were Roman Sels’kyi, Karlo Zviryns’kyi and
D.Dovboshyns’kyi.
